Build a Band Workshop

Sound Mix offers weekly music workshops to unaccompanied asylum seekers aged 12 to 17 years old. The beginners workshop focuses on music composition using computers but there is also an opportunity to play instruments as a group. The build a band workshop concentrates on developing instrumental skills.

Both music tutors are from the music charity CM. The project is also supported by staff from the Refugee Council who have relevant language skills.

Aims of the Workshops:

  • to have fun/relax

  • to develop music skills

  • to learn basic computer skills

  • to improve English by taking part in an English speaking class

  • to have the chance to make a CD or perform to an audience
