COMMUNITY

We are a registered charity run by local residents. We aim to create a space belonging to the community where people and groups can meet, socialise and network in a safe and friendly environment.

In developing community projects, we aim to reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of Brixton and to promote social cohesion.

We also host community projects that need a base to operate from. We are particularly keen to offer activities to people with disabilities, children, young people, refugees and asylum seekers.

Contact: Kim Thornton, Development Worker 020 7274 1190 to discuss project ideas or to book the centre for your project.

We also share our office with other local charities. Currently two community organisations are based at the centre:
Brixton Shed

Lamont'e Johnson has a studio and office space at the centre. Lamont'e is a community artist delivering many art projects in Lambeth and Southwark. He is particularly well know for his bicycle art projects for young people. In 2007 he ran Bling Your Bike for 11 to 15 year olds at the centre.
